The Challenges

By replacing more than thirty traditional 400W metal halide high bay luminaires in their workshop, WPF was able to reach their goals of decreased energy consumption of 75% and improved lighting quality. Their project Return On Investment (ROI) was calculated at 1 year.

The Solution

Ledtec understood the client’s needs in combining a manufacturing and fabrication facility with the capacity to install service and repair complex, specialised equipment on their premises as their services required high attention to detail. The brief was to increase the visual spectrum inside the workshop facilities and aid welders and fabricators in providing maximum visibility for manufacturing and inspecting the works while saving on energy costs.

Ledtec carried out high bay LED retrofit at heir fabrication warehouse centre.

Energy savings, product quality, and maintenance influenced the project in an LED lighting upgrade at Wilson’s Pipe Fabrication facilities.

The Result

In the past decade, electricity has shot off the charts. Since 2008 power prices have risen 117 %, more than four times the average price increase across sectors. The lighting upgrade project aimed to reduce energy consumption, improve lighting levels and reduce lamp service and replacement costs of the aging metal halide lights.

The existing warehouse lighting was the traditional 400W metal halide high bay luminaires. The lights operated 14 hours per day (Monday to Saturday). The metal halide high bay luminaires were replaced by the full range of KUD2 LED fixtures of 200W and installed in the precision welding workshop and warehouse.

Investment costs of the industrial LED lighting upgrade to WPF business are recouped in such a short period that savings on the bottom line can be seen very quickly. The long lifespan on this high-quality Ledtec high bay LED light at a lifespan of 50,000 hours even further contributes to the continued savings as maintenance costs are reduced. The savings on our client’s investment will continue for a long time. For an example on their site in Cockburn, with existing operating hours, these LED high bay lights are expected to operate for the next 15 years at the current hour rated life.

Given the increase in electricity prices of over 20% in WA in the last two years, we were keen to explore measures to reduce energy consumption.

We are impressed with the power savings and the robustness of the Ledtec fixtures. The serviceability is simple, plug and go which has eliminated the need to call out an electrician as there is no need to disconnect the power.
